Muhammad Yunus, founder of the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, and Illene Pevec of A Child's Garden of Peace.

Illčne Pevec founded A Child's Garden of Peace in 2001 to develop organic food gardens and recycling activities with children and their families in Santo Ángelo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. A Child's Garden of Peace cultivates social justice along with food. The economic disparities of Brazil particularly effect children and women. This year the mothers and grandmothers developed a micro-enterprise collective making purses and belts from reused aluminum pull tabs and crochet. The women have named their collective, Realizing Our Dreams. The women earn better incomes, and can work in groups at home without leaving their children.
