General Donations
SDI uses unrestricted donations to achieve their objectives. “Friends of SDI” are individuals and enterprises who give $500 or more annually.

Dollar a Day Club
Become a sustaining donor by authorizing SDI to deduct a monthly amount from your credit card. Once a year we ask you to confirm your wish to continue as a member of the Club. Euros, Pounds, Dollars – all are welcome! Sustaining donors help SDI immensely with cash flow.

Designated Giving
When you donate, you can designate your gift to a specific purpose:
- to deliver a service (publication, training session, bringing someone to a conference, etc)
- to a member project
- to the Emergency Aid Fund
- to the Project Grant Fund.
SDI allocates donations from these two funds based on current needs. Bank transfer charges are deducted from designated donations sent to projects. When asked to administer a large donation, SDI may negotiate an administration fee, depending on the level of accountability expected by the donor.

Endowment Fund
The SDI Endowment Fund was created in 1997 by resolution of the members, and established through an initial gift in 2000. All monetary gifts are considered gifts of capital, and added to the Fund's capital base. The income from the Fund is used to promote the work of SDI members in their efforts to contribute towards a just and sustainable development of humanity. The fund is managed by Morgan Stanley (USA) and earns income and/or capital appreciation in a manner consistent with the investment policies of SDI. Please contact SDI for more information on the SDI Endowment Fund.

The Endowment Fund has two "pockets" for those who wish to make a gift:
General Endowment Fund – earnings used to deliver services and administer SDI guided by the annual budget approved by SDI members.
Suhadha Scholarship Fund – created in memory of the Suhadha Community Development Project in Sri Lanka (1988- 2000), earnings are used to provide scholarships to underprivileged children in Asia.

Planned Giving
You can name SDI as a beneficiary of an insurance policy or in your will, or make donations of shares.  Please seek legal advice on how to do this.

Commemorative Giving
Some people prefer to give a gift to Susila Dharma to remember a birthday, anniversary, or other important event in someone’s life. We will send a card of thanks to the person receiving the gift and a tax receipt to the donor (USA only). Gifts can also be made in memory of a loved one who has passed away.  SDI will send a receipt to you and a card to the bereaved family.
