SDI is an affiliate organization of the World Subud Association www.subud.org. Subud is an association whose members worldwide belong to all cultures and religions, and who are united through a direct, personal experience called the ‘latihan’ that acknowledges a higher power.
In 1989, SDI obtained special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) www.un.org and www.un.org/esa/coordination/ngo and United Nations Children’s Fund www.unicef.org/index.html. In 2000 SDI affiliated with The Department of Public Information NGO Section www.un.org/dpi/ngosection. Working with the UN through volunteers, SDI participates as an international non-governmental organization, contributing from civil society to the discourse on global issues.
